Love Requires Honesty
Love & Compassion
Scripture
Ephesians 4:15
“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Christ, who is the head.”
Devotion
True love sometimes requires difficult conversations. When you love someone, you speak truth to them even when it is uncomfortable. Scripture teaches that speaking truth in love leads to growth and maturity. This is different from judgment or condemnation. It is saying what needs to be said because you care. It is risking the conversation for the sake of the relationship and the person's growth. Love without honesty is not true love—it is enablement. Honesty without love is cruelty. But truth spoken in love creates space for transformation.
Today’s Step
Is there someone you need to speak truth to? Do it in love—with kindness, clarity, and genuine care for their good. Risk the conversation for the sake of love.
Prayer
God, help me to speak truth in love. Help me to have difficult conversations with kindness and courage. Help me to care enough about others to say what needs to be said. Help me to be honest and loving.
