The Freedom of Obedience
Surrender & Liberation
Scripture
John 8:31-32
“To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."”
Devotion
True freedom is not doing whatever you want but being freed from destructive desires, patterns, and lies. Obedience to God's truth is the path to this freedom. It seems paradoxical, but it is one of the most liberating truths you can learn. When you stop fighting God's wisdom and start aligning yourself with it, you experience genuine freedom. Scripture teaches that the truth sets us free. Not freedom from rules, but freedom through wisdom and obedience to God.
Today’s Step
Where in your life are you fighting God's truth? Where could obedience actually liberate you? Choose one area. Surrender it today.
Prayer
God, help me to understand that obedience to You is the path to true freedom. Help me to see Your commands not as restrictions but as invitations to wholeness. Free me from the slavery of my own desires. Let me know the truth that sets me free.
