The Release of Resentment
Letting Go & Peace
Scripture
Ephesians 4:26-27
“In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.”
Devotion
Holding resentment is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to get sick. It does not hurt them; it hurts you. Resentment is a chain that binds you to the past and to the person who hurt you. Let it go. Scripture teaches that you should not let the sun go down on your anger. Your peace is more valuable than being right. Release what no longer serves you. Forgive not for them but for you. Let yourself be free.
Today’s Step
Is there resentment you're holding? Write it down. Then write: "I release this. I choose peace." Do this today and feel the freedom.
Prayer
God, help me to let go of resentment and grudges. Help me to not let the sun set on my anger. Help me to choose peace over being right, relationship over being vindicated. Free me from the prison of holding onto old hurts.
