Discernment in Choice
Wisdom & Discernment
Scripture
Proverbs 14:12
“There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.”
Devotion
Not all paths that look attractive lead where we want to go. Discernment is the ability to distinguish between what appears good and what is actually good. Scripture teaches that we must examine the long-term consequences of our choices, not just the immediate appeal. This applies to relationships, work, spending, time use, and beliefs. Discernment asks: Where will this lead? What am I becoming through this choice? What are the hidden costs? When you practice discernment, you make wiser choices that align with your deepest values. This is spiritual maturity.
Today’s Step
What choice are you facing? Apply discernment: examine long-term consequences, hidden costs, and what you're becoming. Let wisdom guide your decision.
Prayer
God, give me discernment to see truly. Help me to distinguish between what merely appears good and what is genuinely good. Help me to make choices that align with Your kingdom and my deepest values. Guide my decisions with wisdom.
