Courage to Say No
Bravery & Action
Scripture
Matthew 5:37
“All you need to say is simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.”
Devotion
Saying no is an act of courage. Many people struggle to say no because they fear disappointing others, losing relationships, or appearing selfish. Yet the ability to say no is essential to living authentically and protecting what matters. Scripture teaches that a simple no is enough. You do not need to overexplain, defend, or justify. You can say no to requests that do not align with your values or capacity. You can say no and still be kind. You can say no and still love someone. Courage includes the willingness to disappoint others in service of integrity.
Today’s Step
What have you been afraid to say no to? Today, say no—clearly, kindly, without overexplaining. Experience the freedom of setting a boundary.
Prayer
God, help me to say no with courage and kindness. Help me to set boundaries that protect my integrity and my capacity. Help me to not fear disappointing others. Help me to live authentically.
