July Heat: Testing and Refinement
Trials & Character
Scripture
James 1:2-4
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
Devotion
July arrives with intense heat. This month explores how trials refine us. Just as fire purifies gold, difficulty produces spiritual maturity. Scripture teaches that trials test faith and produce perseverance, which produces character. This is not punishment but transformation. Your struggles are creating something valuable in you. They are developing resilience, wisdom, compassion, and strength. When you face July's heat—literal or metaphorical—remember that you are being refined. Trust the process.
Today’s Step
What trial are you currently facing? How might it be refining you? What strength or character could it develop? Today, view your difficulty as a refining process.
Prayer
God, help me to see my trials as opportunities for growth. Help me to trust that You are using difficulty to refine me. Help me to persevere. Help me to not waste my suffering but to let it produce character and maturity.
