Releasing Control
Release & Freedom
Scripture
Proverbs 16:9
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
Devotion
You plan your course, but God establishes your steps. The sooner you accept this, the freer you become. Scripture teaches that your attempts to control everything are exhausting and ultimately futile. God is in control. You can make plans, but you must hold them lightly. When God redirects you, can you follow? When circumstances change, can you trust? Releasing control is releasing the burden of being God. Let God be God. Make your plans, but surrender them to His purposes.
Today’s Step
What are you trying to control? What outcome are you desperately trying to force? Release it. Make your plans but surrender them to God. Trust His leading.
Prayer
God, help me to release my need to control. Help me to make my plans but hold them lightly. Help me to trust that You will establish my steps. Help me to surrender to Your purposes.
