Releasing Bitterness

Release & Freedom

Scripture

Ephesians 4:31-32

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, and every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Devotion

Bitterness is a poison you drink hoping someone else will be harmed. It does not hurt them; it destroys you. Scripture teaches that releasing bitterness is necessary for freedom. When you forgive—not because the person deserves it but because you deserve to be free—you are released. Forgiveness is not saying what happened was okay. It is releasing your right to vengeance and trusting God with justice. Let bitterness go.

Today’s Step

Who are you bitter against? What wrong do you need to forgive? Release it. Forgive. Be free.

Prayer

God, help me to release bitterness. Help me to forgive as Christ forgave me. Help me to not hold onto what others have done but to release it to You. Help me to be free.
