The Unfailing Spring

Wisdom & Life

Scripture

Proverbs 14:27

“The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death.”

Devotion

A fountain produces water continuously, without effort or input. It is a source, not a destination. The person who has established reverence for God at the center of their life has tapped into a source of wisdom, guidance, and life that flows continuously. When temptation comes—the snares of death, the paths that look good but lead to destruction—the person with this reverence has internal resources to navigate. They can recognize the trap because they are oriented toward life, not just toward immediate gratification. This is transformational: instead of trying to white-knuckle your way through temptation or resist through sheer willpower, you have accessed a source that turns you away from death naturally. The orientation toward God becomes the thing that protects you.

Today’s Step

How is your connection to the fear of the Lord? Is wisdom flowing from that fountain in your life? If not, what would it take to restore that connection?

Prayer

Lord, make me a person tapped into Your fountain. Let the fear of You flow through my life as a continuous source of wisdom and life. Turn me away from the snares of death, not through struggle but through the natural flow of being oriented toward You.
