November Closing: Gratitude and Generosity
Integration & Wholeness
Scripture
Proverbs 3:9-10
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim with new wine.”
Devotion
November closes with gratitude and generosity intertwined. When you are grateful, you naturally become generous. When you have recognized what you have been given, you naturally want to give. This is the paradox of thanksgiving: In releasing, in giving, in honoring God with what you have, you experience abundance. This is not prosperity gospel. It is not the promise that you will become wealthy if you give. It is something deeper: When you are grateful and generous, your interior life becomes wealthy. You experience abundance of joy, peace, connection, and meaning. You are no longer driven by scarcity mentality. You are no longer anxious about not having enough. You are no longer grasping and hoarding. You are living in trust that you have enough and that sharing does not diminish you. This is the spiritual gift of November: Gratitude and generosity transform how you experience life. Enter December having practiced these disciplines. Let them deepen. Let them reshape you. Let them prepare you for a new year of living not from scarcity but from grateful abundance.
Today’s Step
As November ends, reflect on how gratitude and generosity have shaped the month. What will you carry forward?
Prayer
God, thank You for November and the practice of gratitude and generosity. Help these to continue shaping me. Help me to live from grateful abundance rather than scarcity. Help me to honor You with what I have.
