Trust in Provision

Faith & Confidence

Scripture

Luke 12:6-7

“"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."”

Devotion

Jesus speaks about sparrows and hair and God's attention to detail. The message is stunning: God does not forget. God is not too busy or too distant to notice you. God counts the hairs on your head. God knows about sparrows that are worth pennies. If God notices these things—these small, seemingly insignificant things—then God certainly notices you. You are not forgotten. You are not overlooked. You are known and cared for. In December, when anxiety often rises—anxiety about whether Christmas will be perfect, whether you have enough money for gifts, whether you will handle family gatherings well, whether the year will end as you hoped—Jesus invites trust. Trust that you are noticed. Trust that you are cared for. Trust that God has not forgotten you. Trust, even when you have made mistakes or failed or struggled or fallen short. God still notices you. God still values you. Your worth is not determined by what you accomplish or how perfect your Christmas is or whether you have enough money for expensive gifts. Your worth is intrinsic. You matter to God. You are worth more than sparrows. This December, when anxiety rises, remember: You are noticed. You are cared for. You are known. You can trust in God's provision and attention, not just for things but for you.

Today’s Step

Identify one anxiety in your heart. Can you trust this to God? Can you believe that God notices this and cares?

Prayer

God, help me to trust that I am noticed and cared for. Help me to release anxiety about whether I am doing enough or being enough. Help me to believe that You know me and love me. Help trust to replace fear in December.
