Christmas Day: God With Us

Emmanuel & Love

Scripture

Matthew 1:23

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means God with us).”

Devotion

Christmas Day arrives. Emmanuel. God with us. This is the name that summarizes the entire incarnation. Not God far away. Not God hidden. Not God demanding we climb to heaven to reach God. But God with us. God here. God present. God involved in our lives, our struggles, our joy, our grief. The name Emmanuel promises that we are not alone. We have never been alone. In your darkest moments, God is with you. In your moments of joy, God is there celebrating with you. In your confusion, God is present. In your grief, God grieves with you. In your healing, God walks with you. This is the gospel. This is the good news. This is why Christmas matters. Not because of gifts or celebrations or perfect family moments. But because God came. God is here. God remains here. On Christmas Day, whether you celebrate religiously, culturally, or not at all, let this truth settle into your bones: You are not alone. Emmanuel. God is with you. Let this move you. Let it comfort you if you are grieving. Let it strengthen you if you are struggling. Let it deepen your joy if you are celebrating. You are not alone. This is Christmas. This is what matters.

Today’s Step

Today, notice the presence of God. Where do you encounter Emmanuel? Where is God with you?

Prayer

God, help me to know that You are with me. Help Emmanuel to be real to me—not just a name, but a lived reality. Help me to feel Your presence. Help me to never forget: You are with me.
