The Gift of Tomorrow
Possibility & Potential
Scripture
Proverbs 31:8-9
“"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and the needy."”
Devotion
As the year ends, there is tomorrow. The new year. The opportunity to speak up. To judge fairly. To defend the vulnerable. To use your voice, your strength, your privilege, your platform for something that matters. You have one final day in this year, and it is an invitation: What will you do with the day that is given to you? Will you waste it? Will you use it to love? Will you use it to serve? Will you use it to stand up for what is right? The year has been a gift. 365 days. You have learned. You have grown. You have been shaped. Now, what will you do with that growth? How will you use what you have learned? How will you apply the spiritual practices you have developed? Not just for yourself but for the world? Not just for your comfort but for justice? The year that is ending gives way to a year that is coming. That year awaits what you will bring to it. Will you bring love? Will you bring courage? Will you bring the faith you have developed? Will you be a voice for the voiceless? Will you defend the vulnerable? Will you create space for others to grow as you have grown? These are the invitations of the last days of the year: to think beyond yourself. To imagine how you might serve. To prepare your heart to be a force for good.
Today’s Step
How might you use your voice, strength, or platform to serve others in the new year?
Prayer
God, help me to think beyond myself. Help me to use what I have been given to serve others. Help me to speak up for those who cannot speak. Help me to be a force for justice and love in the new year.
