The Foundation of Family
Home & Belonging
Scripture
Proverbs 24:3-4
“By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”
Devotion
February is a month often associated with love and family, so it is fitting to revisit this proverb with focus on the home. A house is built through intentional decisions made over time. The structure that stands is the one built on a solid foundation with attention to what holds it together. The rooms filled with treasures are not filled with expensive things but with things of genuine value: memories, relationships, shared meaning. A home is not primarily about the physical structure but about the culture you create—the way people are treated, the values that guide decisions, the love that binds people together.
Today’s Step
Reflect on your own home or family culture. What are the treasures? What is missing? What is one small way you could contribute to building something stronger?
Prayer
Lord, help me to build well in the spaces I influence. Whether a literal home or a spiritual family, help me to make choices that strengthen rather than divide. Fill these spaces with what is truly valuable—not stuff but love, truth, and belonging.
