Breaking Through Barriers

Breakthrough & Courage

Scripture

Joshua 3:16

“The water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.”

Devotion

The Jordan River in flood represents an impossible barrier. Yet God asks His people to move toward it, not away from it. And as they step forward in faith—literally putting their feet in the water—the barrier itself becomes the path. This is how God works. He does not remove all obstacles before calling you forward. Instead, He calls you to move toward what seems impossible, promising to make a way as you go. The barrier you face today—relational, professional, spiritual, physical—may be exactly where God is about to break through. Your task is not to remove it yourself but to step forward in faith.

Today’s Step

What barrier have you been avoiding? What impossible thing has God been calling you toward? Today, take one small step toward it. Not to solve it, but to demonstrate faith that God is with you in it.

Prayer

God of breakthrough, help me to face the barriers in my life with courage rather than avoidance. Help me to believe that where I cannot go, You can make a way. Give me the faith to move forward even when I cannot see the path. Let my willingness to step forward demonstrate my trust in You. Let my breakthroughs become testimonies of Your power and faithfulness to everyone I encounter.
