Forgiveness as Path

Release & Freedom

Scripture

Colossians 3:13

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

Devotion

Forgiveness is not weakness; it is strength. It is releasing others from debt so that you yourself are released. When you hold onto resentment, you are bound to the person who hurt you. Forgiveness breaks that chain. As spring brings renewal, release old resentments. Forgive as you have been forgiven—completely and freely. This does not mean that what happened was okay. It means that you no longer carry it as a weight. You hand it to God. The Stoics understood that holding onto anger is drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Forgiveness is choosing your own freedom.

Today’s Step

Who do you need to forgive? What resentment are you carrying? Write it down. Then write: "I forgive." Let the weight go.

Prayer

God of forgiveness, help me to forgive completely. Help me to release the people I've been holding onto through resentment. Help me to remember how freely You've forgiven me and to extend that same grace. Let forgiveness set both me and others free.
