The Power of Words
Speech & Influence
Scripture
Proverbs 12:18
“The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”
Devotion
Your words matter deeply. They can wound or heal, discourage or encourage, tear down or build up. Words are not innocent. They have power. Scripture teaches that the words of the wise bring healing and the tongue of the rash brings wounding. Before you speak, pause and ask yourself: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? Some words should be said. Some should be left unsaid. Wisdom is knowing the difference. Your words are a reflection of your inner life.
Today’s Step
Notice your words today. How many were necessary? How many were kind? Choose one conversation where you'll speak more carefully and thoughtfully.
Prayer
God, help me to be careful with my words. Help me to speak truth but always in love. Help me to use my words to heal, to encourage, to build up. Help me to know when to speak and when to be silent. Let my words reflect Your grace.
