Being Present with Others
Connection & Attention
Scripture
Mark 6:31
“Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, 'Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.'”
Devotion
Being fully present with others is a gift and a spiritual practice. In a world of constant distraction, your undivided attention says to someone: "You matter. You are worth my time." Scripture teaches that Jesus made space for people, that He was fully present with those He encountered. Presence heals, connection transforms, and attention honors. When you are with someone, be truly with them—not thinking about your next task, not checking your phone, but fully engaged. This kind of presence is increasingly rare and increasingly needed.
Today’s Step
Today, be fully present with someone. Turn off distractions. Listen deeply. Be completely there. Notice what that presence creates.
Prayer
God, help me to be fully present with the people I encounter. Help me to see them with attention and care. Help me to listen more than I speak, to understand more than I judge. Let my presence be a gift to others.
