Gift of Rest
Restoration & Wisdom
Scripture
Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Devotion
Rest is not laziness or weakness; it is wisdom. Your body and soul require renewal. When you rest deeply, when you step away from productivity, when you allow yourself to simply be, you are restored. Scripture teaches that Jesus invited the weary to come and find rest. He modeled this by stepping away for prayer and renewal. In a culture that valorizes busyness, rest is a radical act of faith. You cannot pour from an empty cup. You cannot serve others or pursue your calling if you are depleted. Rest is essential to wisdom, health, and wholeness. Honor your need for rest.
Today’s Step
When is the last time you truly rested? Not just sleeping but deeply, genuinely resting? Take one hour today to rest without guilt. Let restoration happen.
Prayer
God, help me to embrace rest as a spiritual practice, not as failure. Help me to slow down, to restore my weary soul, to find wholeness in stillness. Help me to remember that rest enables all my other work. Let me be restored.
