The Wisdom of Humility
Wisdom & Discernment
Scripture
Proverbs 11:2
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”
Devotion
Pride is the enemy of wisdom because it prevents you from seeing what you do not know. Humility opens you to learning. Scripture teaches that humility and wisdom go together: when you admit what you do not know, when you listen more than you speak, when you remain open to being wrong, wisdom becomes possible. Humility is not self-deprecation but honest self-assessment. It is the spiritual posture that makes growth and transformation possible. Practice humility daily. Ask questions. Listen. Admit when you are wrong. This is how wisdom grows.
Today’s Step
In what area are you prone to pride? What would it look like to approach that area with humility instead? Today, take one humble step toward greater openness and learning.
Prayer
God, humble me. Help me to see my own blind spots and limitations. Help me to listen more than I speak. Help me to remain open to being wrong. Let humility be my path to wisdom.
