Victory in the Trial
Trials & Character
Scripture
1 John 5:4-5
“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.”
Devotion
Victory in trial is not the absence of difficulty but faith despite it. Scripture teaches that faith itself is the victory. You do not have to understand why you suffer or see how it will work out. You have to believe that God is good and trustworthy. That faith—holding to God despite everything—is the victory. When you choose to believe despite doubt, to hope despite fear, to trust despite pain, you have already won. Victory is not external outcomes but internal choice.
Today’s Step
Despite your current difficulty, what does faith look like today? How can you choose belief, hope, and trust? That choice is victory.
Prayer
God, help me to have faith despite my suffering. Help me to believe that You are good even when I do not understand my circumstances. Help me to know that my faith itself is victory. Help me to overcome by believing.
