Take Refuge in the Lord
Trust & Safety
Scripture
Proverbs 30:5
“Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to all who take refuge in him.”
Devotion
There is a difference between knowing about God's word and taking refuge in it. To take refuge means to run toward it when you are threatened, to hide in it when you are exposed, to hold it when you are uncertain. The word is described as flawless—meaning it will not let you down, it will not mislead you, it will not turn out to be less than it promised. This builds the kind of trust that allows someone to rest. If God is a shield, you do not have to be your own defense. You do not have to prove yourself right. You do not have to protect yourself at all costs. You can be vulnerable because you are protected. Taking refuge is not passive; it is an active choosing to move toward God's word when you need protection.
Today’s Step
What fear or exposure do you need refuge from right now? Go to God's word specifically seeking not instruction but protection.
Prayer
Lord, I need to take refuge. I have been trying to defend myself, to prove myself, to handle things on my own. I come to You as shelter. Let Your word be my protection, and let that protection free me to be vulnerable with You.
