Love Multiplied
Reciprocal Care
Scripture
1 John 4:19
“We love because he first loved us.”
Devotion
At the end of the year, John reminds us of the source: We love because God loved us first. Love is not something we generate from our own resources. Love is something we receive and then share. It multiplies through sharing. Think of your year: Where have you been loved? Where have you felt cared for? Where has someone shown you grace? That love is not meant to stop with you. It is meant to flow through you to others. You are a channel for love. You have received it. Now share it. This final week, as you greet the people in your life, let that love flow through your presence. The love God has given you. The love others have shown you. The love you have learned to give. Let it multiply. Every act of kindness is love multiplying. Every word of encouragement is love multiplying. Every moment of presence is love multiplying. As you close this year, you have the opportunity to leave people feeling loved. To leave the year having loved well. To multiply the love you have received. This is the spiritual work of the end: not to accumulate more or achieve more, but to love more fully. Love the people in front of you. Love yourself. Love the stranger. Love even the difficult person. Love because God loved first.
Today’s Step
Who in your life needs to feel that you love them? How can you express that love this final week?
Prayer
God, thank You for loving me first. Help me to receive Your love fully. Help me to share that love with others. Help love to multiply through me. Help me to leave this year having loved well.
