Strength for the Weary

Encouragement & Support

Scripture

Isaiah 40:29-31

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Devotion

Weariness is not a sign of weakness but a sign of reality. Even the strong grow weary. The promise here is not that you will never feel tired but that your weariness will not be the end of the story. God offers renewal. This is not usually instantaneous; it often comes through rest, through community, through returning to hope. The passage moves from soaring like eagles to running to walking—acknowledging that renewal does not always mean explosive energy but can mean the sustainable strength to keep moving forward. Exhaustion often means you have been running on your own strength. Renewal comes when you recognize your need and receive what only God can offer.

Today’s Step

Name one area where you are currently weary. Instead of pushing harder, what would rest and renewal look like? Take one restorative action today.

Prayer

God of renewal, I am tired in ways both obvious and hidden. Strengthen me not primarily for more productivity but for perseverance. Help me to understand that weariness is an invitation to return to You, to rest, and to receive the strength only You can give.
