Reconciliation and Healing
Restoration & Peace
Scripture
Colossians 3:13-14
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
Devotion
Reconciliation is not forgetting what happened. It is not pretending the hurt did not occur. Reconciliation is the work of bringing two people back into relationship despite what has broken between them. This is why it is paired with forgiveness—you cannot reconcile without forgiving, but you can forgive without reconciling (if the other person refuses). The call is to be willing to reconcile, to work toward restoration, to let love be the binding force. This is extraordinarily difficult work, which is why it requires supernatural grace. But it is also the most healing work available to us. Where reconciliation happens, wounds begin to close.
Today’s Step
Is there a broken relationship you have been reluctant to approach? What would reconciliation look like? Take one small step toward bridge-building.
Prayer
God of reconciliation, give me the courage to pursue healing in broken relationships. Help me to forgive as I have been forgiven. Teach me that restoring connection is harder and more valuable than maintaining distance. Make me an instrument of Your peace.
