Seeds and Seasons

Patience & Fruitfulness

Scripture

Mark 4:26-29

“He also said, "This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head."”

Devotion

Spiritual growth is not something you force but something you participate in. You plant seeds—through prayer, practice, service, sacrifice—and then you must wait. The farmer does not make the seed grow; he plants and trusts the soil, sun, and rain. God is the one who produces the growth. Your task is to show up consistently, to water what you've planted, to remove weeds, and then to trust God's timing. Spring teaches this lesson viscerally: the ground warms, and life emerges that no human could manufacture. Impatience kills growth. Trust makes it flourish.

Today’s Step

What seeds have you planted in your life—spiritually, relationally, creatively? Are you trying to force their growth? Today, identify one area where you need to practice patience and trust God's timing.

Prayer

God of growth, help me to plant good seeds in my life and in the lives of others. Give me patience to wait for the harvest, trusting Your timing even when nothing visible seems to be happening. Help me to show up consistently with care and effort, knowing that growth is ultimately Your work, not mine. Let my life produce fruit that blesses others and reflects Your character.
