Walking in Newness
Transformation & Change
Scripture
Romans 6:4
“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Devotion
Newness is not just a feeling or an experience; it is a reality. In Christ, you are genuinely new. Not reformed. Not improved. New. The old has passed away; the new has come. This newness is not something you feel your way into; it is something you believe your way into and then walk out consistently. The Stoics taught that we can choose to begin again any moment, shedding false identities and false attachments. But the Christian gospel offers something even more radical: we are made new by what Christ has done, not by what we can do. Your task is to walk consistently in the truth of your new identity, making choices that reflect who you are becoming, not who you were.
Today’s Step
What old identity are you holding onto? What shame or past failure do you keep identifying with? Write it down. Then write: "I am new in Christ." Believe it. Walk in it today.
Prayer
God of newness, help me to truly believe that I am new in Christ. Help me to shed the old identities, shame, and patterns that no longer serve me. Help me to walk consistently in my new life, making choices that reflect who I am becoming, not who I was. Let my newness be visible in my courage, my transformation, and my freedom.
