The Wise Accumulate Knowledge
Learning & Wisdom
Scripture
Proverbs 18:15
“The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise are ever seeking it.”
Devotion
A mark of wisdom is appetite—the desire to keep learning, to understand more deeply, to ask better questions. The word "discerning" means having good judgment, and that judgment develops through the constant acquisition of knowledge. Wisdom is not a destination where you arrive and stop learning. It is an orientation toward life itself: the recognition that every situation, every person, every book, every failure contains something to learn if you are paying attention. The person whose ears are "ever seeking" knowledge is not doing this from insecurity or competitiveness. They are doing it because they have glimpsed the vast complexity of reality and they want to understand it better. They have encountered enough problems to know that their current level of understanding is insufficient.
Today’s Step
Pick one area where you have stopped learning because you think you already know enough. Find one resource—a book, a person, a course—and take one step toward learning more.
Prayer
Lord, keep my mind young and hungry. Protect me from the arrogance that thinks it has arrived at full understanding. Let me be someone whose ears are ever open, whose heart ever seeks knowledge of You and Your world.
